Here are a few ways to show hospitality to others: People need people! This is a fact that will never change. Now is the time to revive the ministry of hospitality! This does not mean we have to bring back to the 90’s style of church potluck, the same way that Target has embraced the 90’s style in their new clothing line, but it does mean that we need to start making more space to love on others that are in our lives. We should not be reckless in our interactions, but we must not leave each other alone for too long! Isolation makes space for the enemy to steal so much from our lives. Loneliness, isolation, and fear wreak havoc on our emotional and physical well-being. During these trying times, It’s easy to forget that one way to protect each other is through closeness. Sadly, we are all living through a time in history where distance is encouraged. The same is true for every human ever created. The first thing in the Bible that God said was not good in all of creation was the fact that Adam was alone! He knew Adam needed companions, friends, and partners for life. Our sense of community and belonging only grows when we rub shoulders with others on a regular basis. Most of us don’t have the space in our lives for that much church anymore but we all still are in desperate need of the community. 1 Peter 4:9ĭo you remember the days of Sunday afternoon covered dish potluck meals? Or when going to church was a week-long event! You attended Sunday school, Sunday service, Sunday night church, Wednesday night church, and more! Today’s Bible Verse: Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. (John 11:35) How profound are those words that as we weep that our God weeps with us.How to Show Hospitality without Grumbling ( 1 Peter 4:9) He felt the pain of those mourning for Lazarus and the Bible says,“Jesus wept”. Not only that but He feels our pain, too. There is One who holds each one in a bottle because they are too precious to just fall to the ground. So remember that your tears do not fall in vain. Every act of sacrifice, every suffering and sorrow is faithfully recorded. If you notice that these tears are recorded in a book. He loves us so much and is ever touched by our burdens and our anguish of heart. God collects our tears to let us know He cares and takes notice of us not only when we cry tears of sorrow, pain, anguish, repentance, confession, and joy but in everything we do and say.
These tears are prayers to God on the deepest level. You have taken account of my misery Put my tears in Your bottle. When you don’t understand why things are happening the way they are, cling to this promise: “We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). What faith Joseph exhibited when he stated, “God meant it for good…” Can we say the same? Is our faith strong enough to recognize that God permits disappointments to come our way but uses them to bring good to us?ĭon’t let disappointment shake your belief in the goodness of God. Joseph recognized that the disappointments which he had experienced (even evil at the hands of his own family) were miraculously woven together by God to preserve many lives from starvation. The story of Joseph is a classic example of how God used disappointments in a young believer’s life to accomplish His own good purposes. Our disappointments are God’s appointments!! Genesis 50:20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.
